Why Was English 102 Effective?

English 102 is a class that symbolizes the beginning of a  better future.

Writing is part of our every day's lives. It prepares us to perform in a higher professional level, and to be well prepare for any type of particular writing. The learning in class and the experience of experimenting new genres were the fundamental keys of success. In English 102, I mastered new ways of writing. For example, I know how to used rhetorical situation more effectively and also how to conduct a research with an expert. One of the course outcomes that I will never forget is composing arguments because now I learned how to use rhetorical situation by targeting   audience, topic, purpose, medium and context.

This is a video that shows the meaning of Rhetorical Situation

Describing the social nature of writing is important to me because it teach me how to be connected with my field of study. With this outcome in mind, I know that my future will be successful. Evaluating the things that I have learned is also important because It is how we advance as individuals in our community. Another important outcome that stand out is describing the differences between writing, which means the differences between a professional audience and general audience. It is an outcome that require to use rhetorical situation since the target is audience.

The last two outcomes that play an important role in writing are analyzing and composing a research. These two outcomes are similar, but different in outcomes. Composing a research is more based on how the writer communicates with the audience by giving evidences such as facts, quotes and sources; however, analyzing the writing is more based on focusing in one topic and sometimes secondary sources are used as a way of explaining the analysis.

Future Plans

My Future will be more successful because now I can understand the meaning of writing. It is a way of expressing yourself in a paper with no limitations. What I have learned in English 102 will help me with my future science papers. This class taught me the value of each format like MLA and APA, and how to use them in an adequate manner. Using the outcomes learned in this class will be always the keys to open new ideas and new ways of writing.

Vs

The writing in English 102 helped me to expand new ideas in other classes such as in my chemistry test. For example, in my chemistry exam I was able to format my paper using rhetorical situations. The good news is that my professor liked it because he loved the organization and the structure of the paper.

The language is the same, but the word choice not

The language and communication are two important elements when talking about the relationship between a science class and an English class. They both share similar styles, but different word choice.

We always communicate!!!

My writing before was not good as it is now because leaning English in the age of 16-year-old was a challenge, but time and practice give the ability to have a better writing. My previous classes English 100 and 101 helped me to be well prepared for my English 102 class. I feel more comfortable with the course outcomes that I have been leaning trough my collage career since they helped me to develop a new way style of writing and experience.

Composing Arguments:

Composing an argument is a way of expressing your ideas, then you take those ideas to the next level, which is to use rhetorical situations by targeting a specific audience, topic, purpose, medium and context. In my MWA#1, I used the rhetorical situation as a guide to help the audience to see the genre. In this paper, I wrote about three drama shows that share the same components of a drama show, which are sense of humor, love and realism. I did have a little bit of trouble figuring out the genre before since I just talked about one show in specific. Also, bringing quotes supported my ideas in a very professionally way because I researched for information that helped the audience to visualize the topic even more.

In my MWA#2, I composed more arguments because I am now expressing my opinions and bringing information form secondary and primary sources such as quotes, interview with experts, and media. This paper has a different genre because it is a blog. In a blog, the evidence is more concrete and available because technology have given us the amazing ways of sharing links, pictures, sound, and video. I did target an audience, which is incoming freshman, but what makes this paper incomplete is the fact that I did not introduce enough evidence in the language section of the specific field. My field is Pre-med studies and to target and audience was difficult, but by adding evidence it helps me to support my argument. The difficult part was to create the medium of my paper. I asked many students to see the medium of my paper to see what was distracting and not good for a blog. They advised me to change the background, and that was what I did. These two papers MWA #1 and #2 had their problems, but by looking for help and revising it helped me to have a strong paper, but not perfect.

Describing the social nature of writing:

Describing the social nature of writing is a way of communicating with a specific audience or field of study. It is like describing a specific group such as the field of my study, which is medicine. In my MWA#1, my paper is more based on people interested in drama shows. It will help the audience to identify themselves with the topic because it is more about a specific genre. Breaking Bad, Dexter and The Walking Dead are seen locally and internationally. The audience target here is impossible to determine, but the purpose is clear because I gave evidence of why the three of them are similar in perspectives of drama.

On the other hand, my MWA#2 is also targeting audiences locally and internationally because a blog is more easier to find out. In this case, the audience will have the interest to read if they want to join the University of New Mexico or the medical school as incoming freshmen. Choosing a role of discourse community depends on what audience or purpose you want to convey or express. Here is a video that demonstrate how in my field I need to be kind in order to fit in my community which is Medicine.

This video Inspires me.

Evaluating The Things You Have Learned:

Evaluating the things that I have learned is important because helps me to see what to fix in the future, and what goals I need to accomplish. In my MWA#1, I have discussed three drama shows that shared the same elements. My goal was to show the audience that drama is a big thing when we talk about rhetorical situation. Pathos is part of the rhetorical situation, and it involves "emotion." It is an important component that makes the paper to be stronger. Feeling can be transmitted in many ways, but when drama is presented the emotions are much exciting. This paper helped me to develop a much stronger argument of drama because I show evidence that certify my ideas.

In MWA# 2, my goal was to persuade incoming freshman to join the University of New Mexico, and to be part of the amazing school of medicine. In this paper, my target and audience is straightforward. Here Pathos does not apply, but ethos apply here. Ethos is "credibility," and here it applies very well since I used secondary sources that helped the audience to understand my disclosure community. In the interview with Dr. Sushilla Knottenbelt, both of us earns respect, but also credit giving real evidence. Logos (Advertising) is another element that makes sense a lot in my MWA #2 because it advertises something that people are concerned of. For example the picture of a dos that needs adoption like the one on the bottom. These three elements helps to understand logos, ethos and pathos.

Ethos, pathos and Logos.

Describing The Differences Between Writing And Argumentation For Academic Audiences vs. Other Professional Or Public Audiences.

Describing the differences between writing and argumentation for academic audiences vs other professional, is how we communicate. It is how we target a specific audience, and transmit the idea to them. For example, in my MWA #1, I target a specific genre which is drama, but it also have sub-genres that make the connection to other types of categories such as love (drama), horror (drama), and humor (drama). These are examples of how drama can vary in categories, so we do not have a specific genre that target a specific audience. We have a multi-variable genre. Another example is if I like drama with love I will probably watch the three of drama shows that I addressed on my MWA #1, which are Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Dexter.

On my MWA #2, I target a very professional audience (professors) and incoming freshmen. In this paper, the audiences are more specific than in my MWA #1. The reason is I am inviting students to join UNM as one of the best universities in the nation. I supported evidences that will keep the audience interesting to the topic. Professors are the other part of the audience since they are the ones who investigate this type of topics, they will be interesting in looking at a student's blog. For example, my Biology professor Dr. Howe, she likes my blog, and adviced me to publish it, and that is what I did. Then, I looked at the track info for visits, and in one day I had 200 visits. That was a blast for a second-time blog.

The more academically is a paper, the more formally and professionally it is. On the other hand, The less academically is a paper, the less professionally it is. Having a specific audience, and being able to differentiate between the type of writing and argument; is important because it helps to visualize the message.

The Value of Communicating.

Analyzing And Composing A Research For An Academic field (Communicate) And Giving Evidences (Secondary Sources).

This means that we have to give evidence to the audience so they can trust your text, It also gives credibility to the writer if we researched something that the audience would want to read. On MWA #1, I did a research based on personal experience, and quotes of the actresses. It will give me more credibility if I show my personal opinion of the show since the audience will either agree  or disagree with me. How would I convince them? The answer is by analyzing and researching, important information of the show. The more you give evidence, the more you get a better idea of the topic.

Researching is the key of many opportunities.

On my MWA #2, I added more information and research because it is based on persuading incoming freshman to apply for UNM. The best secondary source used in this paper was the interviewed that I had with Dr. Sushilla Knottenbelt. It was an amazing experience to be in her office, and learn how her life was trough college. The communication in this paper is more formal, and less informal because it open to the public. However, it is a blog that talks about academic future. As one of my instructor mentioned, you have to become familiar with what you are researching because it helps to have a stronger paper. Also, knowing where to research this will help you to discover new aspects of the topic.

What I Have Learned So Far...

Writing is the tool that helped me trough start my career with the right leg. I really learned that to be a writer, you need to be open mind and have a lot of imagination. In the future, I will work hard on my science papers, and develop a better writing style. As a writer, I will never forget the outcomes that helped me to triumph in this class. In my major, writing is one of the component that I have to master because I will be doing tons of research papers that will involve my writing. In this class, being able to follow the outcomes that I mentioned above is what makes me a better thinker and writer. Also, reflect on your work is something that teach me how to fix my mistakes, and improve them in the future. I will work more on my rhetorical situation skills because they are what makes the audience to follow you as a writer. I want to publish a book that will teach the future scientists how to be good in writing.

In a nutshell, I have learned that to understand other languages, you need to also have a good sense of writing and ideas. Communication is the word that I will never put away because it is the main component of a paper, which is being able to transmit information that will benefit the audience and the writer.

It is Important to remember that non-writers have the best critiques. Always remember to enjoy writing.

Writing is what makes me a better human being...
